Acting IPCR Boss Advises Nigerians To Undertake Courses At Peace Academy

Acting Director General, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Dr. Bakut tswah Bakut has advised public and private organizations and individuals to avail themselves of the various courses being ran by the National Peace Academy (NPA) of the Institute.

Bukut who gave the advice at the graduation ceremony of participants of the most recent Advanced Conflict Management Course (ACMC) at the IPCR complex in Abuja said the ACMC and Basic Conflict Management Course (BCMC) equate the quality of any such courses anywhere in the world.

Dr. Bakut announced that participants of the NPA courses especially those of the ACMC would be inaugurated as members, associates and fellows of the Institute noting that the management and members of faculty of the NPA were already working on the modalities for that.

Congratulating the participants, Bukut charged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the Institute adding that their names would be included among those in the data banks of peace practitioners.

The Director of Internal Conflict Prevention and Resolution, Mr. Peter Opara in his remarks said the certificate obtained qualifies the participants to venture into many areas particularly in the area of peace and conflict resolution.

Prof. Chukwuma Osakwe from Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), one of the facilitator, said that "this particular programme is a cutting edge programme that is not known to Nigerians and thus, advised Nigerians to avail themselves the opportunities provided by IPCR."

A renowned film actor, producer and director, Zak Amata who was at the ceremony expressed delight over the initiative of the Institute and the courses ran by its NPA. He also expressed the need for film producers and actors to undertake such courses towards promoting films and movies that would enhance peace, love and tolerance. He pledged to collaborate with the institute to produce film on peace building, adding that films could easily be used to promote peace in the country.

Head of the NPA, Dr. Bose Awodola said peace business is for everybody as she urges people to enroll into the NPA courses to acquire the skills in resolving conflicts.

Mr. Chukwuemeka Mbah who was the course leader testified that the ACMC organised by the institute is among the best in the world. He says, "I have attended courses abroad, but this is definitely the best. As peace ambassador, we must continue to engage ourselves. I gained a lot of new tools, new ideas on peace building".
