IPCR, CSDEA Sign MoU for Peace, State-building Programmes
The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) and Centre for Sustainable Development and Education in Africa (CSDEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in peace-building and state-building activities in Nigeria.
The ceremony took place today, at the office of the Director General of IPCR in Abuja, Professor Oshita O. Oshita who cautioned organizations and individuals against trivializing issues of peace and national unity of Nigeria.
Oshita said peace work is fragile and need absolute caution and experience to handle while noting the contributions of many peace practitioners and development partners that have been in the field to recover enviable peace.
He maintained that IPCR would always provide platform for organizations and individuals who are ready to work in transparent manner and genuinely committed to matters of peace, state building and sustainable development in the country.
Peace work according to him has a wider space for everyone and groups to contribute their quotas as he further warned groups and individuals from playing with the peace of the country and national cohesion.
He expressed hope that IPCR/CSDEA partnership would advance the mandate of IPCR that would benefit Nigeria.
The CSDEA delegation for the MoU signing ceremony was led by its Executive Director, Theophilus Ekpon who said CSDEA has been working at both international level, ECOWAS and some states of Nigeria.
