The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abuja Council has resolved to work with the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) in order to achieve durable peace for sustainable development in Nigeria.
The resolution was contained in a congratulatory message to Bakut over his appointment as Director General signed by the council’s Chairman, Comrade Emmmanuel Ogbeche. The message reads, “It is needless to say that you have been of great help to the NUJ FCT Council given the way you inspired our journalists covering IPCR; we also resolve to work with your Institute towards achieving a peaceful society for mutual benefit and shared prosperity.”
According to the message, Bakut as a smart bureaucrat and an administrator of note has demonstrated great passion towards uplifting the performances of the Institute within the few months he acted as the Director General adding that his confirmation as the substantive Director General confirmed the resolve of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint committed and analytical persons to head government agencies.
The NUJ noted the achievement recorded by Bakut’s leadership in peacebuilding at the grassroots and urged him to redouble his efforts.
The union says, “We are confident that your courage, resilience and bureaucratic wisdom which you displayed as the Acting Director General of IPCR will stand you in good stead as you pilot the affairs of the Institute”.
