Call for entries: A one-day Civil Society Side event on Climate Change and Conflict

The United Nations General Assembly declared 21st September of every year as the International Day of Peace or World Peace Day through Resolution 55/282 of 1981. This day is set aside to promote and strengthen the ideals of Peace within and among nations and peoples of the world as well as to campaign against violence globally. The theme for 2019 is “Climate Action for Peace”.

In keeping with the UN Resolution, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), the apex federal government agency with the mandate of promoting peace, conflict prevention, management and resolution in Nigeria and Africa, in collaboration with critical stakeholders and development partners, is organizing a cost-free one day “Side Event by Civil Society” as part of its week-long activities to mark the 2019 International Day of Peace. This is aimed at promoting peace work and to build partnerships among peace scholars and practitioners in Nigeria.
The Institute is therefore calling for entries from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) working on CLIMATE CHANGE AND CONFLICT to showcase their past and current activities on the theme. All entries should be sent on or before Saturday 7th September, 2019 to the National Committee 2019 PEACE DAY
