IPCR DG Pushes For Peace In Sahel, Receives Delegates From Building Blocks for Peace Foundation
The Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, has emphasized the need for peace and stability in the Sahel region.
He stated this during a meeting with a delegation from Building Blocks for Peace Foundation, led by its Director, Rafiu Lawal.
Dr. Ochogwu expressed concern over the violent activities of extremist and criminal groups in the Sahel and the challenges they are posing for regional peace and stability. He acknowledged that countries in the Sahel are our “brothers” and stressed the need for peaceful relationships.
The IPCR DG highlighted the importance of collaboration with other organizations to promote peace in the Sahel region and within Nigeria.
The Sahel region faces various security and humanitarian challenges, making peace promotion and conflict resolution crucial for sustainable development.
Dr. Ochogwu recognized Building Blocks’ efforts in peacebuilding and promised IPCR’s willingness to collaborate with the Foundation. Both organizations share a common mission to foster peace in Nigeria and the Sahel region.
The Director of Building Blocks, Lawal, discussed the Foundation’s work and the need to engage stakeholders to build peace across the country.
Finally, the Director General of IPCR, informed of several upcoming multi stakeholders engagements targeted at Peacebuilding in West Africa and the Sahel, as he appeals to governments within the region to continue promote the African brotherhood.
