Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar and the Director-General, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu have acknowledged the influence of Mr. Olamilekan Massoud Agbeleshe, popularly known as Laycon among youths and his achievements in the music industry and peacebuilding efforts.

Laycon, the 2020 Big Brother Naija Reality Show Winner, in Abuja, was acknowledged when Dr. Ochogwu joined the Minister to host him.

Amb. Yusuf Tuggar further reflected on Laycon’s successful career as an artist, media personality, and International Relations Advocate, noting that his influence would be instrumental in promoting Nigeria’s 4D Foreign Policy particularly in engaging the demographic dividend in youth population, democratic ethos,
and soft power diplomacy in diaspora for stability and development.

Dr. Ochogwu reechoed the Minister’s sentiments, acknowledging Laycon’s brilliance, intellect, and successes in the global music space. He highlighted the challenges facing the youth while also showcasing the remarkable accomplishments of young Nigerians across various sectors, both domestically and globally. “Notably, Laycon has distinguished himself as a Youth Ambassador of Ogun State, Nigeria and a member of the Grammy’s Recording Academic Voting Committee” Dr. Ochogwu stated.

He further emphasized that Laycon’s influence could be leveraged to advance youth-focused peacebuilding initiatives, counter violent narratives, and promote civil engagement and peace culture through creative platforms. This, Dr Ochogwu believed, would foster social cohesion, improved security, stability, and socio-economic development across board.

The distinguished artist, Laycon, expressed gratitude to the Minister – Amb. Maitama Tuggar, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, and other participants, attributing his success to hard work. Laycon pledged to continue being a responsible citizen, promoting Nigeria’s positive image, cultural richness, and talent on a global stage.

The engagement demonstrated the effectiveness of synergy and partnership between the government’s Ministry, Department and Agencies (MDAs), and influential figures in promoting peace, security, and development.

Collectively, we will propel Nigeria to greatness!
