DG Inaugurates The IPCR 25years Anniversary Sub-Committees
The Director General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, has inaugurated sub-committees to mark the 25th anniversary of the institute.
The silver jubilee celebration is a significant milestone for the IPCR, which was established in 2000 to promote peace and conflict resolution in Nigeria and Africa.
The sub-committees, comprising heads of departments and units in the Institute, are experts and stakeholders in peace and conflict resolution and they are tasked with organizing various activities to commemorate the anniversary.
These activities include conferences, seminars, workshops, and publications that showcase the IPCR’s achievements and contributions to peace and conflict resolution over the past 25 years.
In his remarks during the inauguration, the DG emphasized the importance of the anniversary celebration, noting that it provides an opportunity to reflect on the institute’s progress, challenges, and future directions.
He charged the sub-committees to work diligently to ensure a successful celebration that showcases the IPCR’s commitment to promoting peace and conflict resolution.
He further charged the sub-committees to ensure they work towards one goal and avoid any form of competition.
“The sub-committees must work interchangeably, share ideas without competition. We are open to ideas that will make the anniversary successful.
“The unique aspect of this anniversary is that we are celebrating peace. We are celebrating non use of force. We are actually celebrating democracy because democracy is the most effective way of managing non violence,” he said.
