Women Are The Agents of Change and Peace – Dr. Ochogwu
The Director General, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, has called upon the Organised Private Sector (OPS), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other peace stakeholders to actively promote women’s rights in Nigeria and across the world.
Dr. Ochogwu made this statement during the Flagship Campaign of 74 Seats for Women in Parliament, held at the IPCR Headquarters in Abuja today. The Campaign was organized by the League of Women Voters (NILOWV) and the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter.
He further highlighted that the IPCR has been actively involved in promoting women’s inclusion in governance, peacebuilding and conflict resolution in Nigeria. Dr. Ochogwu emphasized that women possess inherent virtues, and if given the opportunity to participate in leadership, society will experience positive changes in security, stability and socio-economic development.
He thereafter urged women to persist in their quest to secure more seats in the Parliament, assuring them that, with time, their efforts will be recognized and considered.
