WPSS Reference Group & UN Women Honour Dr. Joseph Ochogwu for Outstanding Contribution
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, Director-General, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution(IPCR), has been honored with the prestigious HeForShe Award by the Women, Peace and Security Sector (WPSS) Reference Group & UN Women.
This highly esteemed award, presented during the 5th Annual Forum of the WPSS Reference Group, recognizes Dr. Ochogwu’s exceptional contributions towards creating a safer and more equitable environment, particularly for women and girls in Nigeria and across Africa.
His efforts have significantly enhanced the roles of women in decision-making processes and in the management and resolution of conflicts, thereby promoting peace, security, stability, and national progress.
During the event, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, eulogized Dr. Ochogwu for his unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in advancing gender equality and protecting women’s rights in Nigeria. She commended his commitment to these vital issues and acknowledged the positive impact of his work.
Thereafter, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, DG – IPCR, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to WPSS Reference Group, UN Women, and Hon. Minister of the Ministry of Women Affairs for this distinguished award. He emphasized that this recognition would serve as a motivation for him to continue his work in service to humanity, striving to achieve the goals set out in the United nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigeria and the world.
