IPCR, Foreign Affairs Ministry, UNDP Partner To Address Regional Challenges
The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) partnered with its coordinating ministry – Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to host Stakeholder’s Engagement on “Regional Partnership Development (RPD) in West Africa”.
The engagement puts together to address pressing regional challenges and promote sustainable development, was held at United Nations House Auditorium in Abuja
The strategic event brought together Diplomatic Actors, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Media, and other peace stakeholders.
The RPD initiative seeks to strengthen peace and security, enhance effective governance, uphold democratic values, and foster regional cooperation and integration, ensuring long-term stability and progress across West African states.
The urgency of this initiative stems from the persistent challenges facing the region, including democratic backsliding, exacerbated by acute poverty, illiteracy, human rights abuses, terrorism, and the increasing wave of coups and military takeovers. These crises have deepened human suffering, economic despair, and an ever-growing humanitarian crisis, making coordinated action a necessity.
The initiative embraces a multi-stakeholder approach, leveraging the collective expertise of diplomatic entities, civil society, and media representatives to develop strategic solutions for lasting peace and socio-economic development in West Africa and Africa as a whole.
