MDAs Ranking: IPCR Ranks 9 In Website Performance, Ranking

The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has made significant strides in website performance, ranking 9th out of 233 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the latest assessment by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR)

This achievement underscores IPCR’s commitment to leveraging digital platforms for transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.

Established in 2000, IPCR is a government think-tank focused on peace and governance expertise, operating under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The institute provides policy options and builds capacities for conflict prevention and resolution in Africa. Its strong online presence reflects its dedication to sharing research, policy analyses, and peacebuilding initiatives with a broader audience.

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) conducted the ranking, evaluating MDA websites on security, functionality, usability, and mobile responsiveness. IPCR’s ranking highlights its efforts to meet global standards and improve service delivery through digital means.

IPCR’s work includes conducting research, policy analysis, and capacity-building programs on peace and conflict management. The institute has organized interfaith dialogues, advocacy, and training on peacebuilding and conflict-sensitive reporting for various groups in Nigeria.

This ranking is part of the Federal Government’s initiative to enhance transparency and accountability among MDAs. By showcasing best practices, the BPSR encourages healthy competition and drives improvements in online services and information dissemination.

According to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, “over the years, the Website Performance and Ranking Scorecard has become a key instrument for Ranking Websites of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), an initiative of the Bureau of Public monitoring how well MDAs leverage technology to meet their mandates. It not only fosters healthy competition among government agencies but also encourages continuous improvement in the use of digital platforms for effective public service delivery.”

The objectives is to promote e-governance by ensuring that MDAs’ digital platforms meet global standards for service delivery, transparency, and accessibility.

It also improve digital user experience by evaluating the ease of access, navigation, and mobile responsiveness of MDAs website.

It enhance transparency and accountability by encouraging the availability of open data and timely updates on MDA websites and also to ensure cybersecurity compliance by promoting adherence to security protocol such as HTTPS encryption and safeguarding user data.

Recall that in October, 2024, the IPCR was ranked as number 19 out of 245 MDAs in terms of compliance with the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.
