Conference on Building partnerships for a more secure future for West Africa and the Sahel

Today marks the commencement of a pivotal 2-Day Conference themed: “Building Partnerships for a more secure future for West Africa and the Sahel”, at Wilton Park, Sussex – United Kingdom. This critical gathering brings together esteemed leaders, including Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Secretary, Rt. Hon. David Lammy.

The conference also features the Director-General, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, alongside experts from Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAs), the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and renowned academics.

Discussions at the strategic conference centre around developing innovative approaches to foster cooperation in the Sahel region, enhancing regional stability, and addressing the underlying causes of insecurity in the region.

This engagement underscores Nigeria’s and the UK’s commitment to collaborate on solutions that promote sustainable peace and security in the Sahel and West Africa.
